Nowadays, there are many alternatives to natural sugar, considered to be toxic to humans. It’s the substitute sugars. The best known are agave syrup, stevia, coconut sugar, etc.

But another natural sugar is worth considering: date crystal sugar. Indeed, it is usually in their dried form that dates are most frequently consumed. In appearance and taste, date crystal sugar looks like brown sugar, however, it is rounder and sweeter, with a discreet touch of dates, particularly prized in drinks and pastries; it’s sweetening power is more important. Similar to a caster sugar by its texture, it will bring new aromas to your creams and pastries, while respecting a natural composition. It is also the perfect replacement for brown sugar and is excellent for sprinkling on fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals and more.

The recommended substitution dose is 2/3 of date sugar against 1 dose of crystal sugar. Less sweet than other sugars, the glycemic index of date sugar is 68.
